Pack. Deliver. Recycle. Repeat.

Environmental Impact

At All About Polythene we care about our planet and the environmental impacts associated with plastic packaging.

AAP are committed to minimising the environmental impact of the packaging we supply. We are continually working with our suppliers to develop high strength films aimed at reducing packaging weight and maximising recyclability. New material developments offer opportunities to reduce film or bag thicknesses thus using less raw materials and less energy to produce. All polythene products supplied by AAP are 100% recyclable. We can help to provide advice on recycling and re-using materials. This could help to improve your waste systems management and reduce your Packaging waste Recovery Note obligations (PRN’s) saving you money.

Sugarcane derived polymers

Polythene as a product is hugely important but unfortunately, often receives the wrong media attention. For those who are looking for a genuine greener alternative to oil based polythene products, AAP can help. Working closely with our partners we are able to offer Carbon Neutral Sugarcane based products, polythene bags and films made from a sustainable, renewable and green resource.

Products can be manufactured from polymer derived from Sugarcane which is a renewable resource, unlike other polymers which are produced from oil extract. During the growing process Sugarcane captures C02 from the environment which in turn produces oxygen. Through development, we are able to take this green resource and use it as a key ingredient in our blends. The Sugarcane captures enough CO2 to offset the amount of CO2 emitted during the production processes to produce the polythene and deliver the finished product to the customer's door. This has been proven by research conducted by the Carbon Trust. The material is 100% recyclable and because it is chemically identical to oil based polythene there is no difference in product strength, appearance or the way it is handled.

By using bags or films made from Sugarcane polymer, your business can significantly reduce its packaging carbon footprint and help meet corporate social responsibility targets. Bags and film can be printed on which is excellent for green branding and don’t forget it is 100% recyclable in the same way as other oil based polymers.

The Best Packaging Materials

Plastics provide unparalleled benefits as a packaging material. It can be sterile with superior barrier properties and minimal migration. Products will not be contaminated or damaged, a reassurance which cannot currently be matched by other packaging materials. Polythene packaging can also help to extend the shelf life of food products thus reducing wastage.

Plastic packaging is lightweight and resource efficient, saving packaging mass, energy and greenhouse gas emissions. Packaging items in plastics significantly reduces waste and saves energy. This makes plastic packaging the best choice for businesses and the planet.

How we dispose of plastic and recycle our packaging waste after use is the absolute key and we are doing our bit to help our customers to improve their processes and systems for packaging waste.

Why Recycle? - Top 10 reasons to do so

If your recycling processes have room for improvement, we can help you and here are ten good reasons to let us:

R ecycling just ten tonnes of paper saves up to 120 trees
E nergy savings are vast; recycling paper uses 70% less energy than raw material production
C leaner air for today and tomorrow by saving trees that are the lungs of our earth
Y ou can generate revenue from your recyclables as well as making considerable cost savings
C ompany PR and environmental policies are stimulated whilst reducing carbon footprint
L andfill costs are ever-increasing but reducing rubbish sent to landfill dramatically cuts costs
E nvironment and natural resources are conserved by reusing, reducing and recycling

N eed for dustbins decreased, which saves significant wasted and unreleased energy
O il is preserved through recycling when fewer materials are produced
W orking environment will be safe, clean and staff kept involved in making a difference
